By October Greg and I decided to move in together. I was living with my sister, best friend, our roommate Tiffany and her sister. Our lease was up and we decided to go our own ways. My sister moved in with her friend Jamar and Theresa was going to move in with her boyfriend. So Greg and I decided to move in together. We got a small townhouse in downtown Meridian. It was only $600. It was close to my work and by this time Greg was doing siding with his friend Troy.
Our townhouse walls were thin. We could hear the person next to us talking normal on the phone. She spent a lot of time trying to get money and benefits from welfare.
At the end of October I traveled for work to a tradeshow in Washington DC. I was really excited. I was going with a couple of our salesman that I really liked. I worked for the log cabin place in marketing so they were sending me to see what a small tradeshow was like.
Ryan the salesman I went with knew I hadn’t been to DC before so he made it his purpose to show me around. We drove by the White House. We went to the Smithsonian Museum. I think we made it to the garden one and the one with airplanes. We drove past the Washington Monument. We didn’t have a lot of time but we hit the highlights. They also took me to my first Brazilian restaurant where we ate lots of meat. And to a Ruby Tuesdays. It was such an awesome trip and so glad I went. BUT while I was there I was so sick. I couldn’t stop throwing up. I took a pregnancy test and found out I was pregnant. I remember laying on the floor of the bathroom so sick and crying while I called Greg. I ended up telling one of the salesman I was with – Ryan because I was so sick. He was so nice about it.
When I got back we went to the doctor to confirm. They confirmed and said the heartbeat was strong. I was about 6-7 weeks along. After that I called my sister and told her, my friend Theresa, Amy and finally my mom. My friend Theresa knew right away. When she answered the phone I was crying and she said it before I could even get it out. Later, she would find out the day I had my kids that she was pregnant with her first. Her daughter is exactly 9 months younger then my kids.
I’ll be honest we were scared. We hadn’t been together that long, we had just moved in together. We never considered rushing to get married. I thought even if we were having a kid together didn’t mean we had to get married if we weren’t sure.
Wish I had some photos from then. I should of taken pictures in DC or of our new place. And maybe I did on an old cell phone but I don’t have anything. All I have are some pictures going out with friends in early October. Thinking about it now I was pregnant at this time.
