The Boat – Finally!

The weekend after the Fourth of July we were finally able to take the boat out!  Greg was a bit nervous because the boat had not been on the water in 20 years and we had done ZERO test runs.  But I had been nagging him about it so he reluctantly took it out.  The first hurdle was passing the safety inspection.  When we went through the inspection and got our sticker that we had passed I was so excited.  We were passed hurdle one so we put the boat in the water.  It didn’t sink so we all got in and started the engine.  It started right up and we were able to mob away.  We drove around the lake for a bit and then found a place to dock where we could swim and play for a bit.  When we were done we got back in the boat and tried to start it up but it wouldn’t start.  Greg worked on it a while but it still wouldn’t start.  I thought we were in big trouble but Greg figured out it wasn’t getting fuel so I had to manually pump the fuel.  The boat finally started but when I quit pumping it almost died.  So in order to get back I had to hold the lid up and pump the has the whole way back.  All in all for our first run it wasn’t too bad.  Greg ended up buying a new fuel pump and the boat has worked fine since.  Although I had one sore arm the next day!
