We had a busy summer scheduled already and so for Memorial Day weekend I wanted to take our boat out to the lake.  Greg hadn’t gotten it ready yet but I was determined to go out so I made him go outside and work on it.  He got the motor started and so we went through our check to make sure all our safety equipment was still good and up to date.  We checked our red/green light on the front of the boat and it wouldn’t turn on.  I thought maybe the light bulb had just burnt out and it would be a quick fix.  It turned out that the wire to the light was bad so Greg had to rewire the light which ended up taking 4 hours!

Knowing this might be our only chance to take the boat out I was still determined to go so we loaded the boat and headed to the lake.  We finally arrived got the boat in the water and started it up to head out.  We slowly pulled out and made it passed the buoys and Greg hit it to speed away and all the sudden a huge amount of smoke started coming out of the engine.  I thought we caught on fire so I started yelling fire fire!  I moved the kids away from the back and Greg shut the engine off.  It turns out that some piece came out and the exhaust was coming into the boat instead of out.  We were not able to start the boat again so Greg grabbed the paddle and attempted to paddle us back.  However with one paddle and the wind we were going no where.  Luckily our phones work out there so I was able to call the sheriffs office and they were able to come and tow us back.  Our adventure was a quick one!  When we got the boat loaded back up we let the kids play in the water for a little bit and then headed home.

When we got home I had heard of this field in Eagle that had flags for veterans and I thought it would be neat to see.  No one wanted to go with me so I headed down there to go see it.  It was a really neat experience and I got some neat photos of them.
