Fourth of July

This year like every other we went to Melba for the Fourth of July parade.  We managed to get out there at a decent time and got a pretty good spot.  Every other year after the parade we get out rather quickly and head home to get out the heat.  This year I thought the weather wasn’t too bad so I had wanted to take the kids over the the games and vendors after the parade.  However, during the parade that quickly changed.  It got so hot we were just dripping sweat standing there.  We found a tree in the yard of an abandon house to find shade in.  In between waving and collecting candy the kids would stand next to us in the shade to cool off.  Jaelee even poured her water bottle on her head to cool off.  Needless to say we didn’t stick around to do anything after the parade.  The kids had collected quit a bit of candy in our bag and Jaelee carried it all the way back to the car while using her head for the heavy load.  We high tailed it to the car for air conditioning and headed home to BBQ and relax in the cool house.

At home we just hung out.  Jayse and I went to a fireworks stand to pick some up for later and then the kids just played outside with neighborhood kids.   Then in the evening we headed back out to Melba for the fireworks.  They were amazing as usual but we forgot Jaelee’s ear muffs and she was not happy.  I tried everything to subdue the noise for the fireworks.  I even stuffed gummy bears in her ears to try and make the noise less but it did not work.  Her dad just had to hold her with his hands over his ears and her laying tight against his chest.

After Melba’s fireworks we headed home and did our own. We had let our dog in the house knowing he doesn’t like all the firework noise and when we got home we found him hiding in our closet.  Poor Bo.  We left him in the house, grabbed Jaelee’s ear muffs and headed outside to start our fireworks.  We started with sparklers and several of the neighbor kids came over to do them with us.  Then we lit off all the fireworks we got.
