Oregon Trip 2015 Day 5

On Wednesday we were able to spend time at the beach.  We were able to bring buckets to collect shells.  The kids had so much fun walking the beach looking for shells and other treasures.

While walking along the beach we saw purple tidal waves.  It was pretty awesome.  For hours I was searching the web to see what was causing it but there were no answers, until now.  The mystery has been solved.  It is explained better here than I could explain it http://www.beachconnection.net/news/salppurp082815_725.php

I took a bunch of pictures of it because it didn’t seem like I was quit getting the purple of the wave but when I got back and looked at them on my computer I had got quit a few good shots of the purple wave.

The weather was pretty amazing while at the beach and we had a great time looking for shells, watching the purple wave and playing in the sand.

After the beach we took the kids to Dairy Queen for some lunch and an ice cream treat.

Because I had got so many great pictures of Jayse at the beach I wanted to get some of Jaelee so her, Jayse and I headed to the beach to get pictures under the pier but by this time it was windy and freezing.  I couldn’t get a single picture of her not shivering.  So we hurried back to the car and pumped up the heater and headed back.

That night we had a bon fire on the beach and crabbed off the dock.  The wind had died down and the weather was really nice.  Darin had told me that maybe the purple wave would make the beach glow at night as they have had other things like this happen that did that.  So Janelle and I headed to first beach when it got dark all by ourselves to see if the beach was glowing.  The shoreline is a bit away from where you park.  We made it about half way and were pretty sure that the beach was not glowing.  I asked a couple that looked like they had just walked from the beach but I don’t think they understood me.  They said yeah the beach is glowing because of the big beautiful moon isn’t it beautiful.  Not exactly the kind of glow we were looking for.  So Janelle and I decided not to walk all the way down to the beach and turned around and headed back to the bon fire with everyone else.
