Family Pictures

I knew we were going to be busy with Jayse’s surgery and then the up coming Holiday’s so I wanted to get our family pictures done and our Christmas card created.  So at the beginning of November I geared us all up for pictures.  Jaelee and Jayse were in the backyard playing.  Jayse was in his t-ball pants and camo coat and Jaelee was wearing her sombrero hat.  Let’s just say their outfits were not what I had planned for family pictures.  So I had them come in in change and we headed out to find the perfect location, LOL!

We drove around Kuna looking for a good spot.  We found this little trail with a bridge and thought it might work.  I got out and took a few test shots but the sun was directly behind where I wanted us to be and it did not look good.  So we drove to a bridge Greg and I knew of around our new house.  It was a bit of a walk from where we parked to the bridge.  I wanted to wear cute shoes for our pictures which was a terrible idea because I never wear those kind of shoes and walking to the bridge was difficult.

We made it to the bridge and I took another few test shots and still didn’t like them.  So we headed back to the car to look for another spot.  On our way back I fell because of my dang shoes.  I was carrying my camera, tripod and purse and couldn’t catch myself, I landed right in a pile of goat heads.  They were stuck in my hand and knee.  Greg helped me up and I had to pick all those prickly things out.

At this point things are going really well!  The sun was getting really low and I was worried about losing light.  We drove pass this field and I thought lets just do it.  We don’t have a lot of time.  So we all got out, I took a few test shots and liked it enough to declare this our spot.

I got out my tripod and started to set it up, only to realize that the piece that connects my camera to the tripod was still at home!  There was no way we could put my camera on the tripod and get our family picture with out it.  So I told Greg to hurry home and get it while I took a few pictures of just the kids.

Greg got back just as the sun was about to set and so we set up the camera and rushed into position.  Because of my incredible shoe choice Greg was the one that had to run back and forth from the camera after setting the timer.  I don’t know how we managed it but we got a few good pictures.  Even one with the dogs looking!

I know family pictures are never at the top of the fun meter for any of us but I just love the results and memories.  Hopefully one day we will all appreciate them!
