I had known for a little while a general idea of what I wanted to do with our Christmas card this year. I had a bobble head idea and I wanted us to be on this sparkly background created with lights.
I spent hours setting up my light background. I needed a lot of light and the only place I could find it was the garage with the door open but it still wasn’t enough. So I set up my light equipment but it still didn’t allow enough light. I moved my whole set up to the side of our house to get more light but it was so windy my stuff wouldn’t stay up so I went back to the garage. I set it up right on the edge to get the most light and made Jayse come out to start testing.
I had elf and Santa hats that I found and decided to use. Each of us wore one and I got pictures of Greg and the kids. I had Greg take some pictures of me. Then I took my whole light up set up down. I then came in and started to edit the photos and try to make our heads large but because of my fancy light set up it was impossible to cut us from the background and enlarge our heads so it was back to the drawing board.
Everyone was over it at this point so I just had each of us go to the backyard and stand against our shed which was mostly white so it would be easy for me to cut us out. Because we were so over it in the pictures I am in my sweats, Jayse is in his jammies, Jaelee is still in her dress from the day before and Greg well he was in his usual attire. But it worked I was able to cut us out from our background and enlarge our heads.
Once I did this and saw the pictures I had a different idea, I thought we could become elves on a shelf and because I went through all the work with our sparkly background I used those pictures on the back. That’s how our card was created this year.
