Botanical Gardens

Every Christmas we go to the Botanical Gardens to look at the lights.  We are lucky that Greg gets tickets for free from his work!  This year we brought our neighbor, Hannah with us.

We knew we wanted to go see Santa first thing because the line is usually pretty long.  While Greg waited in line for Santa the kids and I went over to see the reindeer.  This year Comet was there.  It’s pretty neat, the kids even got to pet him.

(That stinker Jayse is in a phase right now where he thinks it’s hilarious to cross his eyes when I try to get a picture of him)

Jayse told me this year he did not want to talk to Santa, not because he was scared, just because he didn’t want to.  But as we got closer and we got into the area he said ok mom I’ll go talk to him.  Santa this year was great, he talked with each of the kids, let them take their time and he felt genuine.  A big improvement over the last couple of years.  Not to mention this is the first time in years we’ve been at a place where they let you take your own photos.

After seeing the reindeer and Santa we walked around looking at the lights.  Even though we’ve been there every year since the kids were toddlers I still love going to see all those lights.

After seeing all the lights we could we grabbed a cookie and cup of hot chocolate and sat down for a bit.  The kids needed a break from all the walking.  Just look at how exhausted Hannah looks, LOL!

After resting we headed over to the train.  This has always been one of Jayse’s favorite parts.  I think he could sit there and look at the train for hours.

After the train we decided it was time to go.  I thought since we were already in the downtown area we should go look at a few houses.  I pulled up the google lights map and we went to a house near by.  It had 100s of light figurines.  Then we went to another house and it was one of the coolest I’ve seen.  It was straight out of Christmas vacation.  Every surface of the home was covered in lights.  They also made a covered walkway along their sidewalk with lights.  It was pretty cool.  My pictures do not even come close to doing it justice.  Then we drove up to a house we’ve been to a few time.  It also has 100s of figurines and is pretty neat.  But the best of the night and probably the best I have ever seen was a house that had its lights set up to music.  Not only did the lights change to the music but between each song there was a lit up talking Rudolph and Santa that would tell jokes to each other.  This place was amazing.  We sat there for 30 minutes watching the light show.  So we can go again next year I’m putting the information here so we can find it again, DeBolt Christmas Light Show, 6211 W Parapet Ct, Boise.  I took a video of one of the songs I’ll try and upload it at another time.  I’m telling you it was so cool!  It just capped off an already great night.
