On Saturday we had planned to go to the big Mardi Gras parade but we all were just kind of hanging around the condo in the morning and lost enthusiasm for getting ready. Jayse and Greg didn’t want to go to the parade and I was leaning that way too. About 15 minutes before it started Amy took her kids and Jaelee to catch the parade, they ended up not finding a parking spot and skipped the parade as well and headed back to the condo.
After the parade they have motor bike snow races. Amy’s husband wanted to go watch them and we thought it sounded fun too. As we were getting everyone ready to go Jayse started throwing a big fit about going. He wanted to stay and play in the snow and continue snowboarding. We were having a hard time even reasoning with him and I thought maybe it was because he was tired. In the end we gave him a choice to join the family and everyone else to watch the races or stay at the condo and take a nap. He chose to take a nap. Emma decided to stay with Jayse and the rest of us headed to the races.
We had a pretty good area to stand at. We were right where the bikes went off a jump. In the first race we saw a crash. I caught a picture of the guy landing on his face. Luckily, though he was able to walk off. I tell you I hope my kids never want to do any of that I would be a nervous wreck! It was fun to watch though. One of the racers was a girl and Jaelee thought that was really cool. We also spotted a guy racing in a t-shirt, he must be crazy to be out in that snow racing in a t-shirt! We stayed for over an hour but then the kids started to get restless and Jaelee’s feet were cold so we headed back to the condo. Greg said next year he’d love to see the races the whole time. I would too they were pretty fun.
When we got back Jayse was still sleeping. I was very proud that he took a nap like he was told to do and didn’t try to sneak out and play in the snow. After his nap his attitude was awesome, he sure needed that.
After the races we headed down to Donnelly to a hot springs. It was really busy but it was still a ton of fun. They have a bunch of pools and as you get further up the warmer they are and the further down they are the cooler. They had one pool that was almost too hot for me and I like my water SUPER hot. It was so cold when you got out of one though, I’m shivering just thinking about it. A few times while we were in one of the warmer pools that crazy little girl of ours got out and rolled around in the snow and jumped back in. The kids loved it and so did the adults. We stayed there for a few hours until all our tummies were growling for food. We headed back to the condo and enjoyed some pizza and hung out just talking and enjoying our time until we all headed to bed.
