On February 17th we were finally approved for a home loan! It was really excited but we had no idea how hard it would be to find a house. That’s for another blog post.
Anyway we had spent pretty much every waking moment looking for and looking at houses since then. Because we hadn’t done much besides that except for our couple of trips to the river and creek I decided to take a break from it all and drive down to Utah and see my mom for Spring Break. I took Thursday and Friday off work and we drove down on Thursday.
I was able to get a great deal on a hotel near the SLC airport so the kids would have somewhere to swim. That’s the first thing they wanted to do when we got there. They unfortunately were cleaning the pool when we got there so Jaelee and I walked around outside for a bit but it was pretty cold so we wen back in and hung out until the pool was ready. After swimming we went to my moms. We were able to see her new antique store and the kids thought it was really fun to look at everything she had. Jaelee was able to talk my mom into giving her a hat and fan. Jayse got an old cell phone. And she had a bunch of old cameras for me that I LOVE.
When we got back to the hotel we called Greg to say good night and then we went straight to bed.
The next day the kids and I went to Ikea. I love that store. We weren’t there for anything in particular just wanted to look around. The kids got some new stuffed animals and Jaelee got dishes and a container to make a picnic basket. We ate lunch there spent a couple more hours looking around and then headed back to my moms to spend the afternoon. That night the kids went swimming again and then we headed to bed.
The next morning we had donuts in bed for breakfast and then headed to my moms one last time before we headed home. My mom was in her garage cleaning it out and the kids found some walkers that they thought was just the funnest to walk around with. They had walker races with each other and Jaelee with my mom. Before we left Randy gave us a bundle of some (apple) tree branches for smoking.
As we were headed home, I’m driving down the free way at 80 miles an hour and Jayse all the sudden starts screaming his head off. I couldn’t figure out what happened because he is screaming and crying so hard he couldn’t tell me. Then Jaelee freaked out because of Jayse crying and then he finally was able to mutter he got stung. The bee had then flown passed Jaelee and was sitting on her window so it was freaking her out. I flew off an exit and came screeching to a stop. Ripped opened Jaelee’s door and smashed the bee. Then I got out my first aide kit and took care of Jayse. It was totally crazy. Jayse said he put his arm down by his side and the bee just stung him. We are pretty sure it came from the branches we got at my moms so I took them out and shook them to let the kids know all the bees were gone because they were freaking out another one would come. After they felt better we got back on the road and headed home to see Greg.
