Every year in Boise they have the Spirit of Boise where they launch hot air balloons. They do different events with it and Wednesday they had kids day where they launch the balloons tethered and let kids go up in them.
I have always wanted to go down there to photograph the balloons and I thought the kids would like to ride in one. I told the kids that we had to get up really early to get to the event before school and work.
When I went to wake them up to go Jaelee was the only one to get up. Jayse said he wanted to sleep more. I was bummed because I thought he would like it but I wasn’t going to force him. I mean I did beg him but he still said no so off Jaelee and I went.
We got there at a great time, there weren’t too many people yet and we were able to get in line for a balloon that was pretty short. They ended up having to delay the launch of the balloons because someone was flying a drone over the balloons and for the safety of the people and balloons they had to wait until it was down.
Once they started to air the balloons up it was really cool. I’ve never seen how they do that before. Once the balloons were aired they started going up. They just took one quick ride up and down with each kid so the line went pretty fast.
Just as it was Jaelee’s turn she said she was a little scared but she went anyway. The noise of the balloon was really loud for her and she covered her ears the whole time.
Once her turn was over we had to hustle back to the car to make it to school and work on time. Once we were home and Jayse found out Jaelee got to ride in a balloon he was bummed he missed it and wanted me to take him back. Unfortunately I couldn’t so he’ll have to wait until next year. It was a pretty neat experience and I’m already excited to go again next year.
