Saturday night Greg, Scott and my friends husband Kyle went back out to the beach and crabbed off the docks. They were out there until 4 in the morning. Later in the morning as we were all getting up Greg went out to cook the crab. They had caught one of the biggest crabs I had seen. While he was out there the kids were jumping on the trampoline and I snagged a few pictures of them.
On Sunday we had a hard time deciding what to do. It was hard because there is always so much we want to do and so little time. In the end my friend Amy, her kids, Jaelee and I decided to go to Newport to the Aquarium and everyone else went to the fun zone place in Florence.
On the way up to Newport we stopped at Thors Well. The tide was really low so the well didn’t look as cool as it did last summer. I got some cool pictures of the water splashing up on the rocks and we also got to do some whale watching. Jaelee has never seen whales like that before so she was pretty excited. We stood there for a while watching them blow water up and I got a pretty good picture of one out of the water.
We had a little incident with Amy’s son Ian. He went back up ahead of us and when we got to the middle we could not see him. I admit I was freaked out. I hate that feeling of losing a child. Everything that could happen starts running through my head. I was worried he was lost, hurt or taken. Just as Jaelee and I were going to take another path to look for him he popped his little head up a ways up the path. So glad he was safe.
We continued on our way to Newport and went straight to the Aquarium. I had never been there before so I was just as excited as Jaelee. We walked through everything and it was pretty cool but I’m not sure it was as cool for as much as it cost. The memories Jaelee and I made though are always worth it. Her favorite part was the tunnel you go through with sharks swimming all around you. Jaelee picked up a sucker and a little dolphin from the gift shop.
After the aquarium we went down to the docks to see the sea lions. Its something that is too touristy for Greg so we’ve never done it with the kids and Jaelee loved it. She liked hearing them art, art, art over and over. We didn’t stay long and after that headed back to Reedsport.
On our way home we made a few stops to take in the beautiful Oregon coast.
While we were in Newport everyone else was having fun playing mini golf and bumper boats. It looks like they had a lot of fun. Luckily LaRee took pictures there.
When we got back most of the kids had already been swimming but Jaelee hadn’t and she really wanted to. She asked Kenzie to go swimming with her and she agreed. By this point it was getting pretty cold and almost dark but they did it anyway.
That night we went to back to the beach to go crabbing. There was a ban on all burning and so we couldn’t have a fire. We stayed out there for a bit and then headed back to go to bed.
