Since I was already in San Diego I decided to stay for the weekend. I had never been there before and wanted to do some tourist stuff. Luckily since my sister moved to Phoenix they were only a 5 hour drive away and her and her family made the drive over to spend the weekend with me.

We decided a must do was the San Diego Zoo. We got up on Saturday and headed there. The weather was perfect in the 70s. The Zoo as most people know is huge! We spent a few hours walking around and didn’t even make it through a quarter of the zoo. We decided to take the sky tram to get us to the other side of the zoo. From there we got on one of their double decker buses (top of course)and had a speed tour of the zoo.

We got off the bus near where we thought the Panadas were. We walked around for a bit looking for those darn things. It was one animal I really wanted to see because I hadn’t seen any before and a lot of the other animals I have seen at other Zoos.

We walked and walked around and saw a bunch of other fun animals. Like some huge hippos and a zebra/giraffe mix. I can’t remember what those are called. Finally we asked someone and they pointed us in the right direction of the Panadas. He told us we were lucky because on some days there is a 2 hour wait to see them and today there was only a 5 minute wait. I thought thank goodness because I don’t think I would wait around for 2 hours to catch a glimpse of one.

We finally made it to them and it was pretty crowded but we got a good view of both of them.

After the Panadas we headed to get lunch.

Once our tummies were full we decided to get on the actual full tour double decker bus. This one was about 45 minutes and was pretty good. The whole time Jayden had my camera and was taking pictures of the animals and his parents. It was fun at the Zoo but after 5 hours we were done. We hadn’t even seen everything but we were all ok with that. We stopped in the gift shop where I got something for the kids and then we headed out.

After the Zoo we went to Ocean beach real quick. The sun was starting to set and it was pretty windy. We stayed there for a few and then headed back to the hotel to get ready for dinner.

We ate dinner downtown in the Gaslamp District. I can’t remember what the restaurant was called but I got a Ceasar salad and it was not that great and really pricey. At least I had good company!

After dinner we headed up to Ghiradelli to get some ice cream and walked around a bit and went to a few shops.
