The day before Thanksgiving I made the pies – 2 chocolate, 2 pumpkin and a cheese cake. The day of Thanksgiving I made everything thing else. Greg was in charge of the turkey.
2 days before Thanksgiving we got all new appliances. Greg and my brother-in-law Ryan installed the range & dishwasher. Because the stove was new we weren’t used to it. Greg put the turkey in and put on a timer. I was busy making everything thing else plus decorating our deck. I had everything timed to be done when the turkey was. So when the timer went off for the turkey I was just finishing up the potatoes. Greg came up to check on the turkey and he opened the oven and said umm it’s cold in here. He took the turkey out and checked the temp and it was only partially done. The oven somehow had turned off during baking! He turned the oven back on and put the turkey back in.
While the turkey cooked some more we snacked on veggie and cheese plates and played Skipbo.
After 2 hours I was getting hangry. I told Greg just to get the turkey out and cut off what he could so we could eat. So he did and made the gravy.
We covered our deck with painters cloths and added a heater so we could eat out there. The kids ate inside on their own table in the dining room. It turned out pretty great. That heater made it warm and cozy out there.
After eating we all just hung out, played some more skipbo.
Friday morning for black Friday my sister and I went out shopping. We got up about 7. Greg and Ryan went duck hunting. My brothers and the kids stayed home and slept in.
After we all got back the boys all went and got hair cuts and then we headed over to my Aunts to get together with everyone. We played a couple games and just hung out. My grandma pulled my sister and I over to her house for about an hour to talk. She is so funny she had to give Brandi a tour of her house too since she hasn’t been there in a while and make sure we saw her new higher toilet. My grandpa also told us about how he had the mumps during the Korean war and spent some time in a hospital on a ship. Man I love those two!
Before we left we snagged a few family photos and a photo of my grandparents.
On Saturday my sister and family had to leave. They were driving the 13-15 hours home straight threw. Before they left though I made the kids sit on the couch and I snagged a few photos of them being goofy and laughing. Which I LOVE. Jayse was being a bit of a stink and refusing to smile. He had a little help from Uncle Hunter. After they left my mom came over for a bit and took the kids to lunch before she had to head out of town. It was so great being with family.
