New Years Eve – Saturday

On Saturday we went to Jenelle’s and hung out there for a bit.

We then headed down to Salt Lake and stopped to pick up my mom on our way to Ikea. We had planned to eat lunch at Ikea but it was BUSY! After standing in a huge line for a few minutes with out moving we ditched it got back in the car and headed to a place called Iceburgs for lunch. It was really good and one of those old burger joints that had been around for over 50 years.

After lunch we headed back to Ikea for a couple hours. I found so many things I wanted but restrained myself and only ended up with a new coffee table, cutting board and a few other misc things.

After Ikea we went back up to Ogden to get all our winter gear on and get on a train to head back down to SLC.

We rode the train last year when we were in Utah and I thought it was the best way to travel down there. No driving, no traffic, no parking and it’s cheap.

We got to the train station just in time and settled in for our hour ride down there.

When we got downtown we walked to the mall to find somewhere to eat. Everything was closed. I thought that was really weird. We ended up eating at a JB’s in one of the hotels.

After eating we meet up with Darin and his family to walk around Temple Square and look at lights. Several times we went into the Tabernacle to get warm. The last time there was a sibling pop group from Japan that was performing. I’m sorry but I just couldn’t handle their music and dancing. I thought the whole thing was a bit corny and I couldn’t stop laughing Especially when I would look over at Greg and see his miserable face.

While we were warming up Cole fell asleep and the other kids were pretty tired. It was 11:30 so we only had 30 minutes until the disco ball drop. We all decided to ditch it though and head back. Darin, Jess and the kids went back to their hotel and we headed to the train station.

We were getting seated on the train when they started the count down to the New Year. We rang in the New Year warm and with family, couldn’t ask for better.

Elijah had fallen asleep while we waited for the train and Jaelee fell asleep within minutes on the train. Jayse was in that tired mode where you get really giggly. He was pulling faces and laughing his little head off. Definitely kept me entertained.
