Man this has been crazy! We’ve had so much snow. The kids are on day 4 of no school. Today it was because of the ice. It rained yesterday and got a bit warmer and now a lot of the roads are just sheets of ice.

We’ve had snow in our yard since before Christmas and last week we got 10+ inches, 8 of that was in 1 day. I measured the snow on our hot tub and all I could find was a ruler that was 15″ and the snow almost fully covered it. And the next day we got another 3-4 inches.

On top of the snow it’s been record cold. We had a low of -10 last week and the high temps were in the teens. We couldn’t even go out and really enjoy the snow because it hurt your face to breath.

We’ve gone out a few times but only in small bursts. Today with the temps in the 30s it would of been great to play in but I’m back at work and it’s raining making all the snow slush.

We pretty much just hunkered down in the house this weekend. Only going out if we had to which was not much. Greg was the only one that left the house. He went duck hunting Saturday morning and to the grocery store yesterday. He said the store was crazy. Shelves empty of water, Ramen noodles and batteries.

We had several schools flood, one because of a broken pipe the other from all the piled snow melting. I’m sure more is to come because it’s still raining and there are still all those huge piles of snow.

I’m thankful to all the people out there working to clear the streets and keep everyone safe. It was a nice break to have a weekend with nothing to do but sit around.

Here’s pictures from one of the outings in the snow. The kids went straight for one of the piles of snow that was probably as high as their belly button. They both went into the snow up to their thighs and were amazed by it. Jayse also lost his shoe in the snow pile. They refused to put on snow pants and froze their little legs off pretty quickly and had to go in and change and get under blankets.
