After 12 years at my job I needed a change. I loved the work I got to do and enjoyed it but the environment and culture was not something I thrived or felt comfortable in anymore. I had started to look for something else at the beginning of the year I had gone on a few interviews to some jobs I was excited about but nothing panned out.

I had found a job I was excited about with a company that seemed exactly what I was looking for. The process of getting a job there was long and took about 3 months but I finally got offered a position.

I took the job and had 3 weeks off between ending my current job and the new one. During that time I read a bunch of books, finished some projects I had been working on for a while and took a trip to see my sister with the kids. More on that later.

The job I got is with a company called Ivie and Associates. They do the marketing for Albertsons/Safeway grocery stores among many other things but that’s the part I’m doing. We actually work in the building with Albertsons. My official title is production artist. So far I like it, we stay really busy and the environment is much better.

While I was home though I finished some covers for my couches, painted some cabinets and book shelves that I was going to put together. It was nice to be productive and get some stuff done. I didn’t get my shelves together before we left on vacation but when I got back Greg had been busy and finished our ceiling which was awesome, he spent 70 hours he said working on sanding and painting the ceiling. It looks awesome. Because the ceilings were done we were able to install my cabinet shelves. I love them. My living room is starting to come together after a year of remodeling. Just need a palette wall, new paint job and new flooring, LOL.

All of this becomes some wall shelves with a cabinet base. I had to sand paint them first.

Sewed up some new covers for my couches. I would like nothing more than some new ones but life always seems to happen so new covers it is for now. Going to make some new throw pillows too.

Here’s the ceiling done. We took down popcorn ceiling, tore down a wall and put in new lights. When I say we I mean Greg does the work and I come up with the ideas. Man I’m loving it.

This is the cabinet/shelves we created. Love them, just want to get handles for the doors and trim up top.
