After our night in Utah we left early Sunday morning to get to Vegas, we wanted to get there as soon as possible so we had plenty of time to play.
Our drive was pretty easy, we only stopped once, in St. George to get gas. Our trip from St. George to Vegas was really windy. You could feel the wind pushing the car but other than that it was an easy peasy trip.
When we got to Vegas we checked right into our hotel. We stayed at Treasure Island. We had waited to eat anything until we got to Vegas so we could go to one of the Buffets. Our hotel had a buffet in it so that’s where we went. I forgot how much Vegas is and couldn’t believe that to get lunch at the buffet was $30 per person. I almost changed my mind about eating there but we decided we would only eat at 1 buffet so we went for it.
After eating we went to the poool right away. We had all been looking forward to some sun. The pool was packed. There was no room to actually swim in the pool. There were hundreds of people standing in there. The only place the kids had where they could swim and splash around was the hot tub. There was a DJ playing some music and lots of people dancing. Jamie and I sun bathed on the pool chairs taking dips in the water every so often too cool off while the kids swam and played in the hot tub. Luckily the water wasn’t too warm in it.
After a few hours at the pool we decided to go get our tickets to a Cirque du Soleil show. Our hotel did a show and we got discounted tickets so that seemed like a win win for us. We chose to go to the 9 pm show and had a few hours until then so we decided to take a walk out on the strip. We went in to the Venetian which was across the street. Jaelee really wanted a ride on one of the gondolas but it was a bit too expensive for my taste. We made our way down to the Bellagio to watch the water show. After that we had to get back to our hotel to get to our show.
We made it to the show and we had pretty great seats. Before the show started they had a guy come out and entertain the audience, he was throwing popcorn and being silly. I thought the show was pretty great. It’s amazing what they can do with their bodies. However, there was one part that I just couldn’t stand and it almost ruined the whole show for me. There was an older guy dressed like a baby that came out every so often and I didn’t understand how it fit with the show. He didn’t speak but used baby language and to me it was off putting and weird. The kids however thought he was hilarious. Overall the show was entertaining I would love to see another one but maybe not one with an adult man acting like a baby dressed in a diaper and bonnet.
After the show the we were all starving but the kids were exhausted so they stayed in the hotel room and Jamie and I ran to White Castle real quick to grab some food. When we got back to the hotel room the kids were too tired to eat and I thought the food was not very good so we pretty much just threw it all away and went to bed.
The next day we got up and headed out to the strip, we wanted to see more hotels and get down to the other end to eat lunch at the Rain Forest Cafe. We ducked into the Mirage hotel and looked around, we walked the strip. Found a place that had non-alcoholic icees and made our way down to eat at the Rain Forest Cafe.
After lunch we walked a bit further to the M&M store. It is 4 stories and filled with everything M&M, we left with a few items and then were ready to head back to our hotel to swim. We were all tired of walking so we tried to get a taxi but had to walk more and threw a hotel to even get one by the time we got a taxi we were all pooped and the pool sounded so good.
The pool wasn’t as busy as the day before and the kids were able to swim a bit in the big pool. We spent several hours there and then decided it was time to go get ready for dinner. Jamie and I were kinda tired of the high prices for food and just plain tired so we decided to order pizza to our hotel and just eat in our room. After we had some time relaxing from the pool and eating in our room we decided to venture out again since it was our last night. We went to Caesars palace to walk around their massive mall. It looks really cool but the stores are not anything we wanted to go in. They are all really high end expensive fashion, just not our style but cool to see.
The next day was our last in Vegas, we decided to drive down to Mandalay Bay and go to the Shark Reef Aquarium. It is pretty awesome, I have been there 2 other times. They have all kinds of sharks and they are big. The jelly fish always amaze me too. We got there right as it opened so there weren’t many people there and we were able to take our time going threw. After the aquarium we had some time to eat before we had to get Jamie to the airport and continue our trip to my sisters. we ate at a restaurant just off the strip. It was really good and the prices were normal. If I go back to Vegas I’m leaning toward eating more off the strip it’s just as good and would save money. Overall we had a great time in Vegas and I’m glad we decided to stop there and spend a few days.
