August Little Things

I floated the river with my friend Jamie. Just her and I. It was an adventure for sure. My raft kept going flat, I slammed into a tree and walked threw some horrible rocks tearing up my toes. With all that though I had fun with her and I survived!

Jayse had an orthodontist appointment to have a mold made to get ready for all his dental work. He got a spacer put in to push his back teeth out and this month he’s getting braces to straighten his front teeth. Pretty exciting to finally be having this happen. As he’s gotten older I think it seems to bother him a bit more, even though I think he handles it all amazing. Couldn’t be prouder of how he handles everything he’s been through.

With the spacer the Orthodontist said he would probably have some pain. He gave us a tool to turn the spacer every night so it would slowly push his teeth out. Jayse never really complained about the pain except the first night. He was also really good at reminding us to turn the spacer every night.

Jaelee got another box from KiWi Crate and this time she got to sew and make a leather bag to hold a drawing portfolio. It was pretty awesome and she was very proud of it.

THE ECLIPSE! So we were lucky enough to be in a really good line of site for the eclipse. It was a bit crazy around here, they were expecting tons of people in the little towns 30 miles north of here that were in the 100% line of the solar eclipse. Greg and I had to work that day so we both watched it from work. My brother and the kids were at home and they watched it from there.

My work did a little event for it, we got these goody baggies and some catered lunch. We were a bit disappointed in the Eclipse though, don’t get me wrong it was a really cool experience it just didn’t live up to the hype. I will say though we were in the 99.4 line of site and some of our co-workers that live in 100% and stayed home to watch it had a totally different experience. Where we were we never saw the full circle it was only partial and it didn’t get totally dark just dusk. The street lights started to come on which was weird and the temperature dropped 15+ degrees which was kinda eerie. The people in 100% said it got completely dark and they could see the stars, it stayed that way for a few minutes and they saw the complete circle. I tried to take a picture with my camera but it didn’t work. I tried to take a picture with my camera phone threw my glasses and it didn’t work either. Bummer. I will say if I ever have the opportunity again I would go where it’s 100%.

Dream Truck.

Greg finally got his dream truck. It was a challenge because banks do not loan on cars older than 10 years and Greg had his mind set on getting a Ford F350 Diesel from the 90s. So financing was an issue and then actually finding one was an issue. Funny thing is we saw the exact truck he’d wanted just below our house. We both saw it and thought it was a truck of someone at a insurance company. The day we went to the fair we were driving home and Greg said I think I messed up that truck that’s been out there by the insurance company I think was for sale. I never saw a sign on it and neither did he but he’d noticed that it didn’t have plates on it and next to the insurance company was a small auto sales company. We hadn’t seen the truck in a while so we both were bummed thinking we missed the opportunity. However, literally after we had just talked about it we drove passed that same place on our way home and we saw the truck!

I pulled in there, Greg who doesn’t like to ask questions didn’t want to get out because he wasn’t sure the truck was part of the auto sales. So I got out and walked there but they were closed. Greg took down a number on the building and gave it a call. We found out that the truck was for sale and made a time to go see it. The guy selling it ended up being totally flaky and it took us days to meet up with him to look at the truck. In the meantime I did some research and found a place where we could get financing.

When we went to look at the truck finally, Greg feel in love right then and there. It was owned by a diesel mechanic and he had added a lot of upgrades to it. Things that are awesome but that Greg never would of added. The next day we got the money and got the truck. It all happened very fast and is amazing how it all came together. Glad we could finally get Greg his dream vehicle.

For the first week of school the kids had to make a personal sculpture that told the class about them. Then they had to draw a key that would tell people what each object meant. We had fun coming up with items to represent things in their life and I loved the kids drawings on their keys.
