Now that we are done with the sports season I might be able to blog a bit. I can’t believe it’s already November! Gosh where does the time go?
So way back in September we went to Grandma and Grandpas in Oregon for our annual Labor Day weekend there. Greg and I took Thursday and Friday off work. We left for Portland Wednesday evening after the kids got out of school and Greg and I off work. It’s about a 6-7 hour drive there. We knew we were going to get there pretty late. We are lucky that we were able to stay that night with Scott and Courtney. We got there at about midnight and went right to sleep.
We got up Thursday morning and were able to see Courtney for a bit before she left for work.
We decided to go get some breakfast at IHOP. Jaelee had a cupcake pancake with frosting and sprinkles on it, she loved it. While at breakfast we were discussing what we were going to do for the rest of the day. I wanted to go to Ikea since it was pretty much next door. I also wanted to take the scenic drive down the coast and maybe do some tourist things. Greg however did not want to go to Ikea or drive down the coast. He just wanted to get there. We compromised and decided to go to Ikea but not drive down the coast. There were a couple of lights I wanted at Ikea and luckily they had them there so it was a good trip.
After our quick trip to Ikea, it was super fast, the kids didn’t even come in with us. We drove straight to Reedsport. We waited to eat until we got there so we could eat at a local place. So the first thing we did after stopping by Greg parents was to go eat at King Neptune.
After filling our tummies we headed to the beach to breath in the ocean air. No matter how many times I see the ocean every time it I’m just in awe. It was super windy out there but we still had a great time. There was so much wood up on the beach that people had made all kinds of forts. The kids had a great time running around the logs and into the different forts. Greg and I walked down to the water and sat there for a while just listening to the ocean.
After the beach we went up to Grandma and Grandpa’s where Greg enjoyed some crab they caught a few days earlier. The kids got to go swimming in the pool for a bit.
That evening Jaelee and I went to the lighthouse for our tradition of eating cup cakes and watching the sunset. I love that we get to do this together. We got our cupcakes and headed to the lighthouse. I park my car so we can sit in the rear of it and watch the sunset. We settled into the back with a blanket on and enjoyed a couple of cupcakes together looking out into the ocean watching the sun go down. Just as the sun set we could see a boat out on the water and a helicopter. It looked like someone was hanging out of the helicopter. We didn’t and still don’t know what was going on out there but it was interesting to watch. Before we left I took a few pictures of the lighthouse with it’s lights on and then we headed back to the house.
