Jayse’s last football game was in McCall. We knew it was going to be cold because it was already cold down in the valley. We stayed the whole weekend up there which I’ll talk about in another post.
When we got to Jayse’s game it had just started to snow. The field had about an inch to 2 inches on it and they were shoveling the yardage lines.
We brought blankets and chairs to sit in but it was so cold none of us wanted to sit still. This game was different in so many ways. First of all they were using the whole field. Normally at the games it’s about half. It also seemed that quarters were longer. We didn’t really keep track but the game ended up being over 2 hours long. Normally they are under an hour and half.
I think Greg was more excited than anyone. He just kept saying how awesome it was.
Jayse got to play a lot. He played offense, defense and at the end played center. It was so exciting to watch him play so much. In all that action he got hurt a couple of times. One of the times he walked off holding his head after a crash with another players. Another time he got hit pretty good and laid on the ground. The coach had to come out on the field and help him out. Turns out he got hit pretty good and bit his tongue causing it to bleed. One of his team mates stayed there with him and Jayse said he just kept saying Jayse your bleeding.
Even though he got hurt he came back out and continued to play. I don’t think he ever really left the field. It was a pretty epic game with the snow, getting to play so much and the fact that they won by a pretty good lead.
As the game went on it just snowed more and more. During the game Jaelee pulled out some of the sleds we had brought and was playing with one of the other boys sisters on hill in the snow. She had so much fun. She did get cold towards the last half of the game so Greg took her to the truck and she sat in there with her phone and the heater.
After the game the coach told the parents that some of the kids were too cold and didn’t wan to play which is why some of the other kids got to play so much. Lucky for Jayse!
Jayse said he will never forget this game and it his is favorite moment of the whole year. Obviously I took a ton of pictures. Greg and I walked up and down the field following the team, keeping close to all the action. Luckily after the game we were able to get all the boys together and get one team picture!
This one of out of focus but it’s the one where Jayse gets hit that causes him to get hurt and lay on the ground.

So crazy! Our entire state would shut down with that amount of snow, but they’re playing football:)
