Jayse’s teacher was organizing a group of kids to participate in Rake up Boise. It’s a yearly service project where people form the community go to homes of those who can’t rake up their own leaves. Jayse volunteered to help because he was promised donuts afterwards. When Jaelee heard that she wanted to sign up to.
I volunteered to be a driver and take some of the kids from the school the the home of the woman’s yard of whom they were raking. They had enough volunteers they were able to break up into 2 groups and do 2 homes. Luckily both my kids stayed in the same group and I went with them.
The house they had to rake had a ton of leaves. The parents that drove the kids had to chip in and help was well, I don’t think the kids would of finished on their own. I was impressed though how they all jumped in and worked their little tails off. They had a few moments where they got to jump in the leaves and play but mostly they all worked really hard.
The homeowner was really grateful and gave the kids treats. When we got back to the school the kids got to eat donuts and drink cider. They had so many donuts each kid got something like 3 donuts.
Glad my kids decided to help and volunteer for this even if it was so they could donuts in the end.
