November seemed to be flying by and we were close to leaving for our Thanksgiving trip. We only had 1 more weekend to get our pictures done. I was getting Jaelee ready for pictures and was brushing her hair when I noticed little white and gray specks all over in it. My stomach dropped. This couldn’t be what I thought it was.

I yelled at Greg to come get a second opinion and he confirmed what I thought, Jaelee had lice. Ugh, gross. Our first time ever dealing with lice. Greg immediately went into combat mode. He ran to the store to get lice treatment. We put the shampoo in Jaelee’s hair and then combed through her hair with the lice comb. I didn’t want to comb it because I was so grossed out so Greg started it but he was struggling with her long hair and ripping it out. I took over and it wasn’t as bad as I thought. It took us about 2 hours combing through her hair until we thought we had combed out enough.

Greg looked at everyone else’s head and he thought he saw something in mine. As a precaution we all washed and combed our hair. Greg tried to help me with mine but he was ripping my hair and causing tangles. That just lead to me screaming and him frustrated. I again took over my own hair and did the best I could.

After all of this we were losing light and we only had about 20 minutes left to get some pictures. We ran out drove to the near by reserve and snagged a few quick pictures. I wanted the dogs to be in the picture but we didn’t have time to get them ready. My brother joined us though.

Even though we dealt with lice and we only had a few minutes, I think we got some great pictures and they are some of my favorites.

After the pictures we had to start on washing everything. In the end I didn’t have lice and we managed to get rid of all of Jaelee’s with out anyone else getting it.
