On Monday we we all took a trip up to the Grand Canyon. It was absolutely stunning. Pictures do not do it justice. We were able to get into the park for free with the 4th Grade park program. It is really pretty neat that across teh nation 4th graders get into National Parks for free. The park rangers traded our printed out passes with an actual hard card that the kids get to keep.
It was super windy there. We were not prepared for that. The kids were pretty cold. We tried wrapping Jaelee in a blanket but it became a nuisance trying to keep it on her. She was able to borrow a sweatshirt from my sister. We walked around for hours looking at different view points. It seemed like we covered a lot of ground but when we looked at the map we had only seen a fraction of the Grand Canyon.
Definitely another place we want to go back to and spend some more time.
After viewing the Grand Canyon we decided to start our long trip home and try to get half way. I was super bummed because it gets dark so early we were not going to be able to see some of the beautiful landscape we were driving through. Dang it! Just another reason to go back down there. It’s never enough time with family and the time goes by too fast. Grateful for the time we do get though! Thank you to Brandi and Ryan for hosting Thanksgiving. We had an epic time.
We briefly got to be on Route 66 on our way up to the Grand Canyon, my sister and I had to snag a quick photo of the road sign.

In the left of this photo you can see a group of people, it kind of gives you perspective of just how huge this is!

The sun was kinda in their eyes, LOL.

Just outside of the Grand Canyon we saw a sign for Buffalo Jerky, we pulled off real quick to get some.
