Get ready for pictures! I look forward to Labor Day weekend every year. I love it. I enjoy going to the coast so much to be with family. I gotta say though going to the Wildlife Safari in Winston, OR about an hour and a half away was probably my favorite thing the whole year. I think I liked it more than any of us.
I love animals and to see them up close and roaming around from your vehicle was so cool to me. We even got to feed some. I have some pretty cool video that I’ll have to try to upload with the animals peeking their heads in the car. We got a brochure of the animals at the beginning and I think we saw everything in it but 2 animals. I saw animals that I had never seen before. After driving around you can go into an area of the park and feed fish, birds and other animals.
After the safari we had to head back to go to Braydon’s first high school football game, I’ll do another post on that. We stopped for a quick lunch and headed back.
I’m going to put a bit more description by each photo with the animal name because I want to remember the kinds animals they were.
First of all I sat in the back with the kids on the way there and had this view. This guy has some amazing eyes. I’m glad I was able to capture that.

Right inside the gate this is what we saw. Some turkeys and an ostrich.

A maned wolf, looks like a fox but is called a wolf and is neither. It’s its own special adaption. So cool.

A Cape Eland, the largest of the world’s antelope.

This one was missing a horn and looked like a unicorn according to Jaelee.

The Zebras were pretty high and we didn’t get to see them very well but here they are.

This giraffe was walking right towards us, Greg moved forward and we looked behind and the giraffe was eating something out of the van from one of the safari keepers. Such cool animals.

The Wildebeast & Rhino’s were up pretty high in a corner too but it was still really cool to see them.

This elk was so much fun, he was just lazily walking down the road, Greg would slow down and he would head towards the car, got really close to coming in LaRee’s window. The kids were going crazy trying to take their own pictures.

Jayse spotted this guy. Not sure how, he was back in some trees blending in. It’s called a Barbary Sheep

Gazelle, they had put bolts and rubber on the end of their pointy horns.

A White Fallow Deer & Sika Deer

This is the part of the park where we got to feed the animals, there were Gazelles, Blackbucks, White Fallow Deer, Sika Deer, Emus & Rheas. It was so much fun.

That was the end of the driving section, from there we went in.

One of my favorites, a Turkey Vulture

Phew that was long but I told you I loved it and took so many pictures, lucky I was able to narrow it down this much!

Funny story about this place too, which involves Greg. I’m sure mom has told you, so I won’t take up the blog-sphere with it:)) Love the pictures!
