After Jaelee’s game we had to rush to Jayse’s an hour away. We got Jayse there with enough time to practice for a bit with the team. When the game started Greg and I were sitting there watching waiting to see Jayse play.
After the fist quarter we didn’t see Jayse play at all, Greg looks over to the sidelines and notices that Jayse was not in his pads, he just had his jersey on. At half time Greg walked over to talk to him and he said his knee was bothering him and he wasn’t going to play.
I must say we were pretty disappointed. He hadn’t mentioned it hurting at all that day and seemed fine during practice. It takes a lot for us to get him to practices and games every week and to do all of that and not see him play was a bummer. After talking to him more I don’t think he realized he wouldn’t play once he told the coach his knee hurt. He said he told one of the coaches, they didn’t even ask how bad it hurt or how long it had been hurting they just told him to dress down immediately. I don’t know if that’s for safety or if they just didn’t want to deal with it but it was all very disappointing.
Definitely a learning experience for all of us.
