For the last 3 years we’ve gone to a Hot Springs for St. Patrick’s weekend to celebrate when we met. Because we got married in October which is hunting season we can’t really do anything then so we take the time in March to celebrate together.
We should of known things were not going to be great when we realized we forgot our crock pot. It is a crucial piece in our weekend. Luckily we remembered before we got too far out of town and were able to stop at a Walmart and buy one.
Anyway we love this hot springs we go to. The pool is huge and the area is beautiful. However, this was the last year we will go there. Too many people have found out about it and for the weekend we want (relaxing and quiet) you can’t get that there anymore.
The cabin we rented last year was already booked so I got another one. It was a duplex connected to another cabin. The people on the other half happened to have a kid, I love kids but we go away for the weekend to get away from our kids and be together. It was sad to be in a cabin where we could hear everything, the kid running around and screaming, them walking on the floor and suite cases being moved around. We thought we were lucky when they checked out the next day.
The hot springs was a bit crowded too. There was a rowdy group there. Drinking, talking loudly, skinny dipping. Now if I was there to party and have a loud time like them I wouldn’t of cared but because we were there for a nice quiet time it was annoying. Saturday I didn’t even want to go to the hot springs. They were out there with music being so loud. Greg went out there by himself. I stayed in our room and read.
At about 4 a new family checked into the cabin next to us and with 2 kids! Agh!! Now there was double the noise and double the running around. The floors were wood and we could hear that so well.
Greg came back after a few hours, he said the rowdy group had left to go to the bar. We ran to the small town store to see if they had plates because of course we forgot that too. Luckily we found a little shop that had some picnic plates. When we came back we ate our traditional corned beef & cabbage and then quickly got ready for the hot springs while the group was gone. Luckily we had a few hours of quiet before they returned. When the group returned we got out and headed back to our room. We brought a TV with us and a DVD player so we could lay in bed together and watch a movie. Which is what we did.
Greg was so hot and we could not find a way in our room to control the temperature so he opened the sliding glass door. When we went to sleep the door was still open a bit. When we woke up in the morning our room was freezing.
Greg got dressed and went to the lodge to ask how we could turn up the heat. We were told that the control for the heat was in the other room and there was nothing we could do. We were done at that point so we just got up and left.
Kind of a bummer we had such a terrible time but now we know we wont go back there and we need to find a more remote and quiet place next time.
I didn’t take many pictures because we were so grumpy but I got a few.
