Spring Break – Pike Place Market & A Ferry Ride

The next day I wanted to get up pretty early and get to Pike Place Market. By the time we got going and got there it was almost 11. It was already pretty busy. The kids didn’t really like it, it was busy noisy and stinky. They were bored.

I thought it was interesting and enjoyed looking at the different stuff. We didn’t see anyone throwing fish but we saw a lot of weird fish. The geoduck grossed me out, as did the rock fish with their sunken eyes. Ick. We sampled a bunch of apples and listened to some great music. There was a guy playing a piano, one playing a violin and a guy singing and playing guitar (he was amazing I took a video of him that’ll try to upload).

After we had our fill of the Market we walked down to the waterfront. I’m not a fan of ferris wheels so didn’t want to go on it. I asked the kids if they wanted to go to the Aquarium but the didn’t so we left and went to Ikea, LOL.

There were a few things I wanted from there so that’s where we went and we grabbed some lunch while there.

After Ikea we went back to our house to chill and decide what to do next. The kids didn’t really want to go to the Space Needle and I was ok with that because it would of been $80 for the 3 of us to go up there. I’m sure it would of been cool but I don’t know about $80 cool. We decided to go on a Ferry ride.

We made it back downtown and tried to find somewhere to park. I feel like I’ve already developed a theme about parking. I hate finding somewhere to park. I’d like to just pull in and get where I want to go. Anyway we could not find a place to park. I finally saw a lot with a bunch of cars in it and thought, finally somewhere to park. I figured out how to get in there and pulled up to a pay booth. I told the lady we just wanted to park but she said this was the line to board the Ferry with your car. I told her we didn’t need to do that we just wanted a ferry ride an asked her where could we park. She said you just have to find a spot on the street. I was not about to go back out there and drive around looking for a spot anymore so I just bought a ticket for us to ride the ferry with my car.

We had to park and wait for the ferry for about 20 minutes. While we were waiting K-9 units walked around every car we all thought that was interesting. Finally we got to board the ferry. I had never done this before and had no idea if we stayed in our car the whole time or if we could get out. Luckily when we boarded we saw other people getting out so we did also and headed up deck. We had a great ferry ride, we bought some popcorn, candy and explored the ferry. It was about a 30 minute ride.

When we got to the island we were going to just turn around and go back but when I was driving around trying to get back into line to come back the line just kept going and going and going then I saw a digital board that said the wait to just get back to the Ferry was 2 hours! Yikes we did not want to sit in the car for 2 hours, so I googled to see if there was another place we could take a ferry back. There was a 40 minute drive away. I thought it was worth it, we could see the landscape and hopefully get on a ferry in less time. The drive was nice, it was fully of green trees. We made it to Bremerton and I was so excited that there was no line, we pulled right up to a booth. My excitement was dashed when she told us that we had another 40 minute wait before the ferry boarded. Hey all said and done it was still less than the 2 hours we would of had to wait at the other ferry. We parked our car in line and got out to use the bathroom and explore the pier.

When we got on the ferry again we got out and explored. We were lucky that it was right around sunset. We had some beautiful light and from this island we had an hour ferry ride. We had a great time and the best part was when we were coming back into Seattle I had the most beautiful light and view of the Seattle skyline. I got some great night pictures. By this time they had announced we needed to get back in our car so I shot all of my pictures from my car out the window, out the opening of the ferry. I was so lucky that my car was by an opening on the side of the skyline!

After we got off the ferry I drove to Kerry park where I was told by Darin and Jess you could see a great view of the city. By the time we got there it was pretty dark so I didn’t get as great of pictures there. We didn’t stay long and headed back to our house to eat our left overs for dinner.

At our little AirBnB house I slept upstiars, Jayse slept in the middle level and Jaelee slept downstairs. There were no blinds so it was nice and bright in the morning. This was my view coming down in the morning. BTW these stairs were scary.

Jaelee’s room was the only place with blinds, she doesn’t like the dark so she slept all night with her phone flash light on.
