There were some great sunsets in October and fall colors. It became a thing where the kids would point out colors or sunsets to me, they run downstairs and tell me to look outside at the sunset or sunrise. Jayse and I even went out one night with his drone to try and get a picture of the sunset up higher. It didn’t quit work out but was fun. We started texting each other pictures of sunsets. I kinda hope it’s something that continues.
Jayse is getting braces again so we had many appointments at the ortho in October. In one appointment they told us they don’t need to do the molds anymore and they can digitally make a mold of his mouth. They ran a camera all over his mouth and you could see on screen it building his teeth. Then they could move and rotate it anyway to see them. It was pretty cool.

After our last game of cheer/football the kids and I came home to decorate for Halloween. I had pulled everything out of the shed and we were getting ready to bring all of it out front to start decorating. Jaelee had a tub in her hands and so did I. She was in front of me and I was watching her to make sure she navigated ok. What I didn’t know was that Greg had dug a trench right outside the gate to drain water away. I stepped right into the trench and twisted my ankle. It was one of the worst pains. I fell to the ground and started screaming. I was now covered in dirt my pants had fallen down so my butt crack I’m sure was out and I was rolling around in pain.
The kids came to see what was wrong, Jayse had our dog Arrow and the dog was licking my face. They kept asking what they could do and I screamed to get the dog out of my face. Jaelee asked if she should call Greg, he was gone hunting. He probably didn’t have cell service and there was nothing he could do so I told her no.
I eventually crawled my way into our basement where I laid on the couch. The kids helped me prop some pillows under my foot and got me some ice. I could see my foot swelling immediately. Once I was all settled the pain was just incredible I just laid there and cried. I took some ibprofen and hoped it would help.
Eventually the pain medicine and ice did help. Greg got home and wanted me to do an ice bath. I declined. I was super bummed I had hurt my ankle and we didn’t get to decorate for Halloween. I also was going with friends the next day to McCall and knew I would be walking around. I managed to hobble around that day and the next few at work.
Now that it’s been a couple of months I still have pain. It was a bad sprain.

I had bruising on both sides of my foot.

Random goofiness with brownie on her teeth.

For some reason they love these nerdy glasses I got for Greg’s 80s costume.

While Greg was hunting with these cute girls parents they came to hang out with us. Jaelee had so much fun with 3 other girls around. She gave them rides on the back of her bike.

Jayse wanted to see what this would look like.

Trying hair styles for our 80s stuff.

Yes, he really falls asleep like this.

Greg and I went to a banquet for cheer/football coaches. They among other thing recognized coaches of the year. I got my plaque and had to go on stage. It was nice to be recognized and meet other cheer coaches.

I’m telling you there is a reason October is my favorite month. Just beautiful. I took every single one of these sunset/sunrise photos with my phone!

I came home from work one day, the kids had been home with some friends over in the afternoon. I was downstairs for about 20 minutes when the kids came downstairs and asked if I knew where the dog was. I hadn’t seen him I told them. They said they looked everywhere and couldn’t find him. I asked them if he was outside in his kennel and they said no they had brought him in the house earlier. I started to help them look and couldn’t find him either.
We went out front and started to call for him, the kids got on their bikes and went around the loop in our neighborhood we usually take for walks…nothing. The kids kept saying they didn’t let him outside and they had no idea what happened to him, it was like he just disappeared. They said they had some friends leave earlier so I asked if the dog could of followed them out, they had no idea. I remembered we had a camera on the front of our house, sure enough – I saw their friends leave through the garage and about 7 minutes later you can see our dog leaving. They left the door to the garage open and the garage door open. The dog walked right out.
We jumped in the car and drove around the neighborhood calling for him, we didn’t see him anywhere. That night Greg happened to be working late so I told him we’d grab some food and bring it to him. We did that and I told the kids there wasn’t anything else we could do to find the dog. I’d have to call the shelter in the morning.
When we got home from bringing Greg dinner we pulled into the garage, half hoping to see him sitting there. I had left the garage door open in case he did come home. Jaelee was the first one in the house and when she got upstairs she started screaming. I was like oh great now what? I ran into the house and she was crying and hugging our dog! Some how he made it home and was in the house. It’s a good thing we have a camera outside, it would of been a complete mystery. Turns out Jayse’s friend brought our dog home. He had been to our house earlier that day for the first time and met our dog. He found our dog in his neighbors yard and was able to just walk him home. When we didn’t answer the door he just let the dog in. Man were we so thankful for him. I had the kids load up their jacket pockets with candy and bring it to him to say THANK YOU!
