March Little Things

March? Where to start? March was a crazy month. It was the start of when the pandemic was really starting to effect us. I am an avid reader and listener to the news so I had heard of the Cornovirus but only has something that was in China. When it started to spread here jeez did things get crazy.

It first started with all the hoard shopping, stores were getting wiped out of just about everything, especially toilet paper. It was strange going to the store seeing all the empty shelves. I luckily keep us pretty stocked so we never ran out of anything and were always able to find what we needed when we did need something. We had neighbors and friends telling us they had to wait in line for hours to check out. Again, we didn’t experience that we went to the store at odd times and avoided all that. At some point we did get low on toilet paper and needed to get some. We went to Walmart at 6 in the morning on a Saturday and had to wait in line to get in the store. When we got in there wasn’t much for toilet paper but we were able to get some. We also had to go to Costco that day and managed to get some there too so we were stocked for a while.

Then the kids school shut down a couple of weeks before Spring Break. We had already decided to cancel our Spring break plans to San Francisco and OR by that time.

Things started to get weird at work. Most of everyone at our office was sent home to work except our group. We weren’t even being social distanced. Since those of who had kids now had kids at home it was hard to figure out what to do with them. We were told we could bring our kids to work. So instead of social distancing we were going to bring more people into our small space. It caused a lot of concern and tempers to flare. Eventually towards the end of March one of our employees had a scare that their family member had COVD it basically forced management to send us all home to work.

On the day I started working from home our Governor shut the state down, no groups of 10 or more, restaurants, bars, gyms were closed. Only essential workers. Luckily Greg and I are in positions that are considered essential so we both kept working. In fact we were both busier than ever. Because everyone was at home the equipment rental business boomed. I am in the grocery business and it was really busy, I was putting out signs like crazy about social distancing and CDC guidelines.

Greg and I usually go away in March around St. Patricks Day, we canceled that but the kids stayed at Darin & Jess’s while we had a night at home alone. Greg made our traditional corned beef & cabbage dinner.

To top off all the craziness going on there was a large earthquake in Utah where my mom lives and then weeks later we had one in Idaho. I had never experienced one before, they are not common here. I was in the kitchen and had just popped the top on the instant pot when everything started to shake, I thought the instant pot had gone crazy but when I heard the dishes shaking and could see the lights swaying I knew it was an earthquake. By the time I realized what it was, it was over. Jaelee was in the kitchen with me, her eyes we wide and she looked scared. Jayse was in his room seemingly unaffected. Greg was at work and didn’t feel a thing. It was just the topping on the weird month.

I did not take a lot of photos in March I did take a bunch of screenshots of the news and events going on.

Took the kids to Urban Air in early March before everything shut down.
