This was an awesome game! They had it at one of the high schools so the guys would get to experience what it would be like in high school. They had music blasting and a great announcer. You could feel the energy was higher.
Jayse played amazing. In the first play of the game he got a tackle and it happened to be on one of his former team mates from his optimist team – James. The announcer was really good about saying the names of who made the play so we got to hear him say the tackle was made by Jayse Thornton. Later when we were talking to Jayse he told us he loved hearing his name over the loud speaker.
Jayse ended up getting a handful of tackles throughout the game. Some I got pictures of, some I got video of. I took a ton of video and pictures this game because he got to play so much.
Greg was getting so frustrated during the game because the guy blocking Jayse most of the game – 71 was constantly holding him. He even yelled at the ref on one occasion to watch 71 and then the next play they finally called a holding penalty.
He ended up getting tackled pretty good towards the end of the game and he took himself out of the game to get a break. He wanted to go back in after a couple of plays but his coach didn’t put him back in before the game ended.
It was exciting for us to watch Jayse doing so well. Sadly though his team as a whole was not doing so well and they ended up losing the game pretty bad. It was still one of the funnest games to watch so far. The most important thing though was Jayse had a blast, he was smiling from ear to ear after the game.
