My bestie planned and scheduled a spa weekend for us in Northern Idaho. I had never been to Coeur d’Alene and I would not pass up a weekend to spend time with her so I was in.
I drove up to her place Friday after I got off work and it was freaky all by myself. It’s a 5 hour drive that I have done many many times but this time it was dark and super foggy. I just took my time and kept going. Luckily the last couple of hours the fog cleared.
Saturday we got up, dropped her kids off and headed to CDA. It was a beautiful drive. We saw such pretty mountains and trees. Quit a few bald eagles and rolling hills.
I unfortunately had COVID the week before (thought I might have to cancel but didn’t) and still had a lingering cough and could just barely taste and smell. Luckily she works at a pharmacy so we stopped at one and she pointed out some good meds. Happily they worked great and fast. It suppressed my cough and I was able to enjoy the weekend and not go into a coughing fit during my massage.
We stayed at a really fancy hotel on the lake, it had amazing views. The spa was 5 star. I’ve only had a few massages in my life and this was a pampering. We were given warm robes, shoes and lockers to keep our stuff in.
We started with a body scrub. It was probably my favorite. It felt so good, the scrub kinda of scratching my skin in a good way and the massage was awesome, after the scrub she used this lotion that made my skin feel so hydrated and soft.
After the scrub we went for a mineral soak in our own rooms with tubs. Again it made my skin feel so soft. It was so relaxing.
After our mineral soak we had lunch brought to us in the spa. It was set up and ready for us at some tables with a view when we got out. They didn’t mention this to Amy so she was in the lounge while I was sitting by myself eating. She finally decided to ask someone where I was and they pointed her in the right direction and were united. We drank some mimosas finished our lunch and then got changed.
We went to our hotel room and just hung out and relaxed. We had a few hours before our final massage. When it was time we went back to the spa. The sun was just setting and the sunset was beautiful. We enjoyed it from the lounge while we waited.
The massage was great, from head to toe. I was so relaxed. It was well needed. I could see myself doing that again. It was a bit expensive but every few years maybe.
After our massages we went back to our room and got ready for dinner. We had a reservation at Beverly’s. The fancy restaurant at the hotel.
We had some great food and drinks. We were so relaxed that after dinner we were just ready for bed. We headed back to our room talked for a bit and then passed out.
We got up Sunday and headed back to Amy’s. We picked up her boys and went to lunch. After lunch I had to head home. It was another fun drive home. I had driven a bit and found out the highway was closed because of a rock slide so I had to turn around and go back 45 minutes by that time it was getting dark and foggy again. Luckily I was in a long line of traffic once I turned around so even though it was foggy I always had lights to follow.
I didn’t take a lot of photos because I was mostly enjoying myself but here are a few I got. So glad Amy set this up and we got to do it!
When Amy reserved the restaurant they asked her if we were celebrating anything and she said oh yeah my friends birthday. So they marked that down and when we were done eating brought out this big cotton candy to celebrate. It wasn’t my birthday but it was fun to pretend.
