Italy – Milan, Navigli Canals & Supermarket

Sunday was supposed to be our light easy day. We had been walking a lot and we had the second part of our adventure coming up so we were going to take it easy Sunday and just see the canals and go to the grocery store. That is exactly what we did but it ended up being a ton of walking! I think one of the days with the most steps.

Ryan had to get some homework done so he stayed at home. The rest of us ventured out. Our first stop was the Navigli Canals. What’s interesting about these canals is that they were created to bring marble from the quarries of Candoglia to the Duomo where they were being used. Today they are used for irrigation and tourist tours.

My brothers had seen this wall of dolls in Rome and told us about it, we then saw it in Milan. It’s to help point out violence against woman.

While we were a the canals Brandi found a Roman ruins near by so we decided to walk to it.

Sometimes the juxtaposition of the beauty of the architecture and buildings with the graffiti was so strange.

Didn’t eat here but it was interesting to see a sign for burgers.

Always have to stop for gelato.

We were going to get on the metro to go back to Brandi’s but we got a bit lost and ended up back at the Duomo, we walked all over Milan and back.

I like my new hat but sadly after I bought it and looked at the tag it was made in China…not exactly what I wanted when shopping in Italy.

After we went back to Brandi’s we decided to go to the grocery store. Brandi doesn’t have a car big enough for all of us so a walking we would go. They said it wasn’t that far but it seemed forever! It was pretty cool to see though, it was very interesting. It had some similarities to our stores and some differences. One of the biggest is that it was blazing hot in there! I was so sweaty walking around.

There were so many cases of meat and cheeses….just as you would expect.

We were going to go to the soccer stadium that night for dinner. There was a game and would of been a lot of street food but I was done. We had walked so much. There were a few vendors open on the way to Brandi & Ryans so we stopped there and just got a few sandwiches. They were really good so I was satisficed. I also got an Orange Fanta – which is so much better there.

Not the relaxing day I had expected but it was really cool to see and experience all that we did.
