After our awesome 2 days in Venice we got up Thursday morning to head back to Milan. We had a 4 hour layover in Verona so we figured we’d go back and walk around it again.
As we walked to the train station from our apartment I was still amazed by everything. We saw an ambulance, the police, a boat delivering packages, this is also how they dispose of their trash. All done on boat.
We got to the train station early so we walked around a bit, getting some pastries and looking the shops. Venice has a large glass blowing culture – there is a factory close by and so a lot of the shops have glass figurines. I ended up getting one of a gondola for a keepsake. Don’t have a picture of it so you’ll have to come visit our house to see it π
When we got back to Verona we stopped at a German bar/restaurant for lunch.
The kids did not want German so they got Burger King at the train station and spent lunch like this:
After lunch we walked back to the Arena. When we were there on Monday it was closed to tours so we went back to tour it. By this time some of us were over walking and didn’t feel like going in. Brandi and I with the kids went to to a park near by, Holden & Teaven went shopping and Greg, Ryan & Hunter went on the tour.
It is amazing what good shape this is in considering it is older than the Colosseum in Rome!
After we’d been to the Giulietta statue we learned that there is a popular ritual of rubbing her right breast for luck in love. We told Hunter – the single one of the group he had to do it and went back there just so he could. I tried to get Jayse to also do it but he refused.
After that we went back to the train station. Jaelee took these photos.
A nice sunset we got while walking from the Metro to Brandi’s apartment.
That night we walked to a Chinese restaurant. We were pretty over pizza and pasta at this point and wanted a different flavor. This place was really nice. The staff was great and the food was good.
