Track districts were on a Tuesday. Greg and I both left work early to get there. Districts was over 2 days, the first day was all the field events. Since both Jaelee and Jayse made it to districts we were all there 🙂

Districts were in Eagle and they had a really nice area for shot put and discus. The boys did shot put first and the girls did discus. Of course it happened that our kids were throwing about the same time so Greg and I were standing in the middle. We’d take pictures and video of one and then turn around and shoot the other one.

It seemed to last for a long time because they had 3 kids from every school and each kid got to throw 3 times and then they narrowed it down to the top few and then they all got to throw again for their final score.

Both our kids did awesome! Jayse came in 7th overall in shot put – which is amazing considering he literally started throwing a week before. And Jaelee came in 6th for discus. Proud of those two!

Jaelee happened to have her last band concert that night as well. She was so anxious to make it. It was her last one in middle school and they’d been working on some songs she really liked. When it was her time for shot put her heart was not in it. You could tell from the moment she threw. Her mind was on her concert. She did her 3 throws and we knew right away she was not making it into the top so we left to hurry and get that girl to her concert. We barely made it. She didn’t even have time to change so she played in her track clothes. Luckily she wasn’t the only one – there were a few of those kids that had to rush as well and were in their track clothes. I’ll post pics and videos of that in the next post.
