Volunteering for the Boise Open

The day after Jayse’s game and my concert the school had an opportunity to earn money for football and marching band. I didn’t realize how much fund raising there would be for those two activities. They need a lot of stuff and the school doesn’t have money for it. Marching band needs a trailer to bring all the instruments to their competitions. They have to rent a penske moving truck for each of the competitions. They have been raising money for years and are close to having enough. They also need new uniforms, the uniforms are supposed to last 10 years and they’ve made them last 12 already. The football team needs new uniforms, equipment and an upgrade to our sport facility. We have the unfortunate position of sitting on the side of the stadium that the sun is blasting us for most of the game. They’d like to build a new complex on the other side so we don’t get blinded by the sun every game.

On opportunity came up for football and marching band to volunteer at the Boise open. Football had more volunteers and would get 10k and marching band would get 5k.

I signed Greg and Jayse up for the football volunteers and Jaelee and I for marching band. It was actually a pretty easy gig to help the activities earn money. We were in charge of directing traffic and helping in the parking during the last day of the Open. The kids towards the end got to drive golf carts around, helping people that needed it to different areas of the Open. Jaelee actually had a blast and can’t wait to do it again next year. I think we all would like to help again!
