For day 2 in Amseterdam we had a tour planned to go see the Windmills, wooden shoe factory and cheese factory. It was about an hour bus ride away. The bus didn’t leave until the afternoon so we got up and went out and explored Amsterdam some more.
View from our hotel in the morning.
Breakfast form the hotel. These little pancakes were so yummy.
There was a piano in the metro by our hotel. We got treated to a few different people playing it.
We went to the Van Gosh museum but unfortunately it was sold out for the day.
This beautiful building is the Ruks museum, it was also sold out but we walked around the outside of it.
We were walking by a house and I randomly decided to look in and saw this! Look at all that china.
Our guide told us that every house in Amsterdam and even businesses and apartments have a pulley at the top. He said Dutch houses and staircases are so small that you have to have a pulley to get furniture up to all the levels.
Jaelee just loves these small cars.
Hunter at Hunter’s.
Amsterdam’s flag has 3 X’s.
Vending machine with hot fresh food.
We walked through the Tulip district
Look how skinny this is!
We had to go this shop to get some large Stroopwafels.
On the bus headed to Zaanse Schans
First thing when we got there was to go to the wooden shoe factory to see how they make the shoes.
After the shoe factory we went over to the cheese factory. We learned about how they make the cheese and then they let you into the store to taste and shop. It was packed in there and hard to get to the samples. I had one and was done. Jaelee and I went outside to take pictures and look at the animals. Greg found a way to get samples by just reaching over people. We all did end up getting some cheese and we got a knife and grader to go with it.
Greg wanted to in and tour the windmill that is a saw mill. We made our way over there and paid the $5 euros to tour it. There were a couple of guys working on it while were there, trying to get it going. After I’d looked around I was done but Greg and Jayse stayed to see if they would get it going. They did and Greg loved seeing it actually saw some logs.
While Greg was at the sawmill the rest of us went into a little bakery. They had hot cocoa and over items. I got this Stroopwafel alcoholic beverage and an brownie to share with Jaelee.
Greg was in the bathroom when I took this photo.
When we got back it was dark and we were ready for dinner. Ryan and found a place that sounded nice to try for dinner. We made our way there.
A lot of items you can get with cannabis in it.
The restaurant we ate at had a tap right at our table! I think here most of us just got hamburgers we were all hungry for something hearty and big.
It had been a long couple of days. Jaelee was wiped out.
We decided after dinner to walk through the Red Light district once more. I figured I don’t know if I’ll ever be back in Amsterdam again I wanted to get the full experience. To be honest it wasn’t much different than during the day. A few more ladies in windows and more people is all.
Greg and I thought how funny it was to have a beautiful bird like a swan swimming by in the Red Light district.
Another piano player in the metro.
