Amy and I only had a half day left in Florence before we had to get on the train and head back to Brandi’s in Milan to catch our plane the next day. We didn’t reserve tickets for the Accademia Gallery of Florence where the statue of David is. We thought if we got up early and to the gallery we still might be able to get in. When we got close to the gallery we saw a massive line. It was all the way down the street! They only let people in every 15 mins and calculating the amount of people we knew we wouldn’t have time. Bummer. We did get to see little statues of David everywhere and bought a few of our own.
We had a tour booked to see the Duomo of Florence. The outside was beautiful. We had plenty of time to walk around it since we couldn’t get in the gallery. I took a million photos of it. Every angle was just so beautiful. I loved the white and green marble.
I had to take this picture for Greg. He loves how different things are done in other countries. Not sure this would fly with osha in the US.

They are working on restoring and cleaning the exterior. This is one side they haven’t done yet.

Our tour for the Duomo was terrible. The guide was very monotone and babbled on about stuff. We also had to stand in line FOREVER! Even with a group pass. We were told the interior was underwhelming and it absolutely was compared to the exterior and many other churches we’d been in.

My annoyed face with the guide.

Details from the doors and back out taking more pictures of the exterior.

A gypsy on the ground begging for money.

After our tour of the Duomo, Amy and I headed back to our hotel to get our stuff and walk to the train station.

We had such an amazing time. I would love to go back and give each place more time.
Amy and I navigated the metro by ourselves in Milan and made it back to Brandi’s!
