The morning of Greg’s birthday I took the kids back to the DMV. Jayse to get his license and Jaelee to retake the written test and hopefully get her license.

Jaelee went first so she could get started on the test. Then we went through all Jayse’s stuff and he got his license. They just get a paper one. The real deal is mailed and came weeks later.

Jayse and I had to hang around for a bit while Jaelee did the test. Jayse knew the moment he saw her that she had passed. She had a big ole smile on her face. We went back up to the window where they did all her paper work and she got her license too.

Neither one of them wanted to drive home. They were both too tired cuz it was early in the morning. They have driven a lot since though. They drive to school, practices, band concert, pep band, friends houses. In fact Jayse took a girl out on a date a day it was snowing! He drove through downtown to pick her up, met her mom and and dad and drove downtown to get dinner all in a snowstorm with his license for like 5 days.

It is really nice with them driving. They have run errands for me, picked up milk on the way home, get themselves to school. I have mostly retired my taxi mom duties. We do have a lot of fighting though over who’s turn it is to have the car and who gets to take it at lunch.

Just can’t believe they are driving!
