On Thursday I had a reservation for us at the Lighthouse. It’s also a wild life refuge. I was excited to see the birds.
Before we went to the Lighthouse we went to Hanalei Bay, it was our first time up into the North Shore. We walked around the beach and out on the pier. We decided to go shopping after that to kill time before our reservation. We found some good shops that were affordable. We decided to forgo our P&B and J’s for the day and got hot dogs instead.
At the Lighthouse we went to the visit center, out the back was a great view of the ocean. We could see so many whales from there. I got a few pictures of them. We continued up to the lighthouse. It was pretty but the real awesome part was on the back. The view of the ocean and the birds. We saw more whales and dolphins and lots of birds.
I tried to get pictures of the birds but it is so hard to track them. I brought my big lens and it’s also very heavy to hold. I got a few of the birds.
I could of spent a lot more time there but the girls were getting bored. In fact they went to the car while I geeked out over more birds.
After the lighthouse we went back to the Hanalai pier and played in the water. Leora went looking for shells again. I tried to get video of the ocean waves. Jaelee jumped off the pier and I tried to get video of that but sadly, the video was on me not here. It’s so hard to see the screen in that sun!
We stayed until sunset and then went to a Ramen place where we had reservations. We were excited Jaelee loves ramen and it had great reviews. Sadly, we had horrible service, the food was ok and again got eaten alive by mosquitos.
After dinner we headed back to our hotel.
Jaelee found bamboo and tried to use it a pole vault.

Nesting Laysan albatross, one of the only places in the world you can see this bird.

We were walking the beach and told we couldn’t go any further because a model was taking photos and they didn’t want us getting in the background. Here is the group of them.
