In early April I got to go to Cannon beach for a long weekend with my friend Amy. Her kids were on Spring Break with their dad and she had access to a beach house so, yes!
Work has been really chaotic so I was so ready for a break, sadly I couldn’t take one. In order to go I worked Wednesday, drove half way and stayed in Pendleton for the night. I got up Thursday and worked from my hotel room until I had to check out. I drove to Hood River and worked more from a McDonalds for a few hours.
I had room service for breakfast, it was so good. My omelet was huge.

The view from my room was the small airport, literally right there.

After working I drove to Elaine’s old house in Hood River to see it. Looked the same except not as maintained.
Amy wasn’t going to be in Cannon Beach until late so I decided to drive up to Astoria. I’d never been. I went to the Goonies house and that was about it. Not too much else to do there. I did see a dock with 100s of sea lions on it. I tried to get a picture but they were pretty far away. They sure did make a lot of noise.
I decided to drive to Cannon Beach after Astoria. We were staying at Amy’s friend Ashley’s beach house. I had some time to kill so I stopped at a brewery to get a drink and some dinner. I sat at the bar and was seated to a nice guy from Portland. Him and I talked for hours it was nice and made the time go by. Amy met me at the brewery just as it was closing down.
We headed over to the house. It was on a street by the Haystack, just a short walk and you were on the beach! What a great location.
It was pretty late and I had to work in the morning so we just went right to bed.
Got up Friday to work. I took my laptop upstairs near the window with an amazing view of the beach and Haystack. Not a bad way to work.
I couldn’t help myself and as soon as it got light enough I took a walk on the beach while Amy was still sleeping. Later I took another break and Amy and I went to lunch at Moe’s just down the road. Again, a beautiful view of the ocean and beach and some delicious food.
When I finished work I went down to the beach. Amy was working on school work. I wanted to be down there while the tide was low so I could see the tide pools around the rock. It didn’t disappoint.
She had a coworker stopping by later so we we all went back down to the beach for sunset. We saw and I got pictures of a couple getting engaged! After the beach we went to the brewery for dinner. It was delicious again.
Saturday we got up and it was raining out. Amy needed to do some school work and I was happy to sit on this comfy couch with the fire going and the rain coming down. I read a book and looked out the window at the ocean. It was perfect. I finished my book about the same time Amy was done with school work. We wanted to venture out. She found a great place for lunch in Seaside. We were so lucky that the rain stopped and we had beautiful weather.

We stopped at Hug Point but the tide was too high, we decided to come back later at low tide.

We walked the beach below our lunch spot. It was covered in these jelly like things. Millions of them. We looked it up later and they were called Velella velella.

Back at Hug Point, it was so beautiful.

When you go around the corner there is a waterfall.

Amy and I went back down to the beach for sunset. What a beauty!

Sunday I got up and got ready to head out. I had an 8 hour drive ahead of me so I wanted to get on the road. We were treated with a rainbow on the beach we had to walk down to one last time.

It was a great weekend and so glad we got to do it! I did miss one of Jaelee’s track meets and one of Jayse’s rugby matches. I felt a bit bad about that but there was still lots more to come.
