Jaelee qualified for the JV track championships for discus and shotput. I had volunteered Jayse to help to get some of his tardy’s at school wiped away. So him and Jaelee left early. Greg and I had some breakfast (avocado toast yumm!) and then headed over there. Things were moving faster they we anticipated and we missed her first throw. Greg let me out so I could see the others while he parked. I made it just in time to see her 3rd throw. I took video since Greg wasn’t there to do the video. I got video of her 4th throw as well. Greg missed both, darn it. After her 4th throw I could tell it went really far and she was going to have a good distnace.
As they were reading the scores after everyone had thrown the moment she heard what she got she started screaming and jumping up and down. She ran straight to me and right then Greg was walking up too! We found out that she threw 91’3″!!!! Her best PR by a lot! We were so excited for her.
She made it to the final. She didn’t throw further then her initial throw but it was enough to hold. Jaelee was in position number 2 and a girl from capital was in 1st. Then in the last minute a girl that must of been in another event showed up, stepped up and threw super far. She broke the record for this meet and came in 1st.
That was alright, Jaelee still got 3rd and she got to stand on the podium and get metal. We were so stinking proud of her.
After the excitement of discus she was amped up to throw shotput. She didn’t blow that out of the water and threw her average. She threw 23′. She knew right away that wouldn’t qualify her for finals so we left. Jayse had to stay to work off his tardy’s.
We took Jaelee to lunch at the Ramen House to celebrate! What a great way to end the season.
Love this series of pictures, you can see she’s listening to get her distance and you can tell the moment she knows.
This is the winning throw!
Getting her 3rd place ribbon. Wish it wasn’t so windy!
