After an epic 2 nights of Northern Lights Greg and the kids hit it out of the park with Mother’s Day. They did awesome. I wanted to go to CJ Strike in the boat to take pictures of the birds on bird island.
Greg got the kids up while we got the boat and all my gear ready to go. They got cinnamon rolls ready for me for breakfast (per my request). I grabbed a couple cinnamon rolls and Greg and I headed to CJ Strike.
His truck has been having issues so we finally just took it in to get fixed. It runs great now. We were able to take it to CJ Strike. It’s so comfortable pulling the boat you can’t even tell it’s there.
On our way there we saw it was pretty windy and were worried it wouldn’t be great for boating. We kept going anyway and glad we did. Once we got down to the water the wind wasn’t too bad.
We went straight to bird island and there were birds everywhere! Greg put the small electric motor on the boat so we could get close and just troll around. I took 100’s of pictures. Just love those big ole birds and their babies. So cool to see.
Once I got my fill we decided to just drive the boat around. On our way back to the dock I spotted an eagle in a tree. Greg turned back around so I could get pictures of it. I stood up too early and my hat flew off. I was so bummed, I liked that hat. However, it floated and Greg was able to snag it for me and get it back.
I got some pretty cool pictures of the eagle.
We decided to head back for lunch. While I was using the bathroom Greg and called the kids and told them to get everything ready.
When I got home they had a nice little spread out on the deck (my favorite place). We had a nice lunch out there together.
It was pretty hot so after lunch I grabbed a drink, a book and sat out on my floaty in the sun. It got a little hot so I grabbed the hose and misted water on me every once in a while.
That night Greg and the kids made me dinner (ribeye steak, again per my request). They gave me a hanging basket of flowers for the deck and a nice plaque with a poem about moms. It was a really nice day. Just the topper to an epic weekend!
I was trying so hard to get some birds flying but it is dang hard with that big lens and in a boat. I got a few but they are not totally sharp or in focus.

These two little Herons were my favorite! They look like twins.

We saw Antelope far off in a field on our way home.

Had to get a picture of Greg’s hair flyin around in the wind.
