Greg and I were meeting friends out at Black Canyon for a day of boating. The kids once again didn’t want to go so it was just me and him. We stopped at the grocery store to get some snacks and lunch. They had a paddleboard on sale. We bought one so we could have 2 and paddleboard together.
We got to the water and launched the boat….as is typical being a boat owner it didn’t start. Greg worked on the motor for a bit but it never had full power. He got one cylinder working – which was enough to get to where we were meeting our friends very slowly.
Greg fished while we slowly made our way to the spot, it took hours. Greg’s friend was going to bring us a new spark plug so we figured when we got there we’d be back in full motor shape to drive back.

When we got to our meeting location Greg got a call from his friend and told him that when he started his boat it had flames shooting out of the back so he got his extinguisher out and turned the boat off. They decided to load the boat back up. He was going to meet us down the road to give us the spark plug. Greg used the paddleboard to get close to the road and get the spark plug. Turns out the guy at the store sold him the wrong plug and it was too big.
Since he wasn’t using his boat they walked to his friends boat and took a plug out of his motor. Greg and his friend Greg decided to come back by our boat and hang out for a bit.
His friend went back to his boat and was going to go hang out with his family at the beach. We were going to meet them in a bit. Greg and I took our paddleboards for a spin and then decided to start the boat and go meet them.
Turns out the spark plug was not the issue and now we were going to have to go back slowly. Instead of meeting our friends we went to the dock and got our boat out. We drove to the beach to say bye, we were pretty much over the day after all the boat issues.
