I have seen Sandhill Crane around but never when I have my camera to get any pictures. I read they migrate through the area in Spring and Fall so I made it my mission to find some. When I was with the camera club the week before I got some tips from Ernie about where and when to see them. I took the information he gave me and went out to Emmett.
When I got out there what I thought was simple instructions from him and I’d find the spot easy turned out not to be the case – never did find the location he told me about but I drove around and found some Cranes anyway.
I was lucky they were fairly close to the road. I got a few pictures but now realize I should of changed my aperture setting on my camera to make more of the birds in focus. Darn it! So on some of the pictures of them in a group a single bird is in focus and the rest are just slightly blurry. Good lesson to learn.
While out there I saw a Blue Heron, a haw and pheasants. Not a bad day.
