The day after I got back from the Wildlife Refuge Greg wanted to go to the property. I wasn’t super feeling it but since I sat the entire day before in the car I figured it would be good for me to get out. I bought bear spray so I was feeling a little more comfortable hiking by myself.
Greg, Jayse and I went out. Jaelee wasn’t feeling very good. Greg knew I was a bit scared about the den and a bear so him and Jayse were going to hike to one of his snares and meet me at the road about the aqueduct. Sounded like a plan to me so we all set out.
I listened to the last of a book I had started the day before. It helped to have one earbud ear and distract me from all the noses. I left one ear without an earbud so I could still hear if something was coming.
I felt pretty good on this hike. There was significantly less snow then when we had just been out there the week before. Made the initial start much easier.
When I got to the road, Greg & Jayse were there just like they promised. Since there was less snow we could see in the den. There was nothing in there and it was too small for a bear. Greg thinks now it was probably a den for a bobcat. That made me feel a bit better.
We walked down the road to the other edge of the property. It was so much easier walking along the road. We decided to go up a little farther on the property. By the time we got there I was still feeling pretty good so we decided to go up further and then further until I was at the top!!!
I didn’t intend to go to the top this trip. I just wanted to go a little further from the last time but I was feeling good so kept going. So glad I did, the payoff in the view was worth it.
However, it still wasn’t quit the view Greg had shown me in pictures, there were a lot of trees around. He said if I wanted to see that view we’d have to go to the center more and it was up and down to get there. I said let’s do it. And we made it to the VEIW! It was nice and sunny – we sat there for a while soaking in the sun and view.
We headed backdown after that and headed home. Once we got home Greg and I made some fresh guac and tacos for dinner.
This is the view from where we plan to build the little shanty.

This is the road about halfway up the property. We have to figure out how to create a driveway to tie in the road at the bottom to this one.

Still some areas with quit a bit of snow.

A flat spot here for a potential build site close to the road.

Not many birds around but I saw this little one. You can see it in about the middle of the tree trunk.

Saw an airplane in the distance about the treetops.

This is the view from the top with the first flat spot.

This shows on Onyx where I’m at. The top right corner of the property.

We made it to the center top, with an amazing view.

Jayse said the sun was too bright.
