My friend and I had plans to go out to this marsh area and take pictures of birds. He couldn’t meet until 9 am. I wanted to get out early and get pictures of some owls so I left at 6:30 and went to a spot I’d seen an owl before. Sadly, I did not see an owl there. I decided to go to another area in Hulls Gulch that I’d seen owls before and I got lucky then. I found a hole in the cliffs that had three furry owls in it. There was a pond below and a blue heron was in there. I stayed for a bit getting a lot of pictures and then left to go pick up my friend.
We drove out the marsh but it was WINDY. It was so windy the pond looked like the ocean with waves. There was barely a bird in site. It was too windy. I got a picture of one duck on the water and one picture of some small birds swarming around the sage brush.
Since we were out there, my friend Greg said he had heard about a fence with shoes on it that was near by. We drove and found it. There had to of been miles of posts with shoes on them. We stopped and took a few pictures there.
We didn’t get the bird pictures we were hoping for but had a good time. We stopped at a place for breakfast I hadn’t been to in years – it was still as good as I remembered.
