I headed out to our property on Friday after work. Greg was out there – he’d gone out there after work on Thursday and Darin & Cole were coming out later too.
When I got there Greg made hamburgers, he put too much egg in the elk meat. It was pretty runny and a good chunk of the meat fell through the grate on the grill. So it was a small odd shaped burger but still got enough to make a burger.
Darin & Cole gave me a ride in the ranger to my car which I had parked a bit away.
Cole and Darin were going to spend the night in a tent. Greg had worked on creating stairs to it. He got them about halfway done by the time they got there.
Greg brought out an excavator to start moving dirt and creating a pad for the camper and future cabin.
That night we made smores by the fire.
I bought a Rinse Kit from Costco. It’s a basin with water that has a battery that pumps water out through a hose and nozzle so you can spray it. We don’t have water in the camper yet so this is how he showers or the creek. I had to get a picture of him outside in pretty cold water taking a shower.
In the morning we had some quick breakfast sandwiches. I love having a stove and fridge while camping. Makes it much nicer. Just need the water in the camper it will be really great.
That morning Greg, Darin & Cole got to work. I could only stay for a few hours before I had to go back to town.
Got my hammock hung up and tested out before I left.
Greg and Darin traded off running chainsaws and excavator. Cole was a work horse and did whatever was needed. Stocking the fire with limbs, piling limbs, collecting metal (we think there was a small cabin on the property at some point. We’ve found metal – like old spring matter metal, bed frames and more, along with wood and miscellaneous items.) and even running the excavator himself.
When I had to leave Cole gave me a ride to my car in the ranger.
On Sunday morning I made my way back to the property. It was cloudy out and I am a sucker for clouds and mountains. I had to stop and take pictures and video.
A lot of wildflowers had started to show up at this point. I tried to get some pictures of those as well.
Back at the property I could not believe how much work the guys had done Saturday after I left. There was a flat spot for the camper, the stairs were finished, metal was all in Greg’s truck, the firepit had been moved to it’s formal spot and much more! And they were already back at it by the time I got there.
Ahh, Misty!
Our friend came out that works for an excavating company and brought a skid. With what was done on the property he was able to move the dirt around and make a driveway and really flatten the spot for the camper and start the drive way up to the pad for the cabin. It was really amazing what happened in a weekend.
Let’s remember what this looked like just a month ago.
Look at all the metal Cole collected and go in Greg’s truck! Greg took it to a recycle place and got a whole $7!
Misty was keeping me company and entertained while I made lunch.
This is the driveway up to the pad for the cabin. Can’t believe how it’s all coming together! Look at that view, just makes me smile.
Cole got a little close to the fire while putting debris on it. He singed his eye lashes and tips of his hair.
Cole and Darin headed out. Greg wanted to keep working so he jumped in the excavator and continued to clear the pad for the cabin.
I watched him, took video and pictures while also entertaining myself with this little guy. I googled and he is a Western Skink. It’s got a really bright blue belly and you can see some blue in his tail.
Had to stop at this hill on the way home. Just loved the blue sky and the wild flowers on it.
This was a big weekend in getting dirt moved. Really big progress.
I made a few videos from it:
