Milling in the Mountains

After Greg and Darin put the mill together Greg couldn’t wait to get back up there and start milling some wood. So they were back up there for the weekend. They went up Friday after work. Greg had a really big fork lift delivered to the property help move the logs from our pile to the mill. Greg and Darin worked together to mill.

I made it up there on Saturday and took some pictures and video of them milling. I even milled a log myself. The moving of the logs is really hard the actual milling is really easy. We can mill up to 26″ in diameter log and 17′ long.

Our plan is to mill some lumber and let it dry so we can use it next year in the build of our tiny cabin.

It was very hot so in the late afternoon Greg and I went to the creek to cool off. The water is still really cold. Greg took a quick dip and we sat in chairs dipping our feet in. While we were sitting there we saw some baby fish. We didn’t know if we’d see fish in the creek so it was pretty cool to see some.
