Since Greg has been at the property every weekend since April I told him we were taking a day off in the middle of the week to take the boat out and have some fun. We happened to pick a day that neither of the kids could go. Jayse was working and Jaelee had band camp all day.
I wanted to go to Redfish. I’ve heard such good things about it and had never been there. It’s about 3 hours away. I didn’t think that was too far but Greg did not wan to drive that far and back in one day.
We got in a big ole fight about where we were going to go. He wanted to stay local but that sounded boring to me. Also, if I only got one day to go out on the boat I wanted it to be somewhere cool.
In the end he gave in and we went to Redfish but he said I had to drive. I was ok with that. So we drove the 3 hours. We got there about 11. We launched the boat and of course we had issues right away. The boat had a hard time going into reverse and we started to float toward another boat launching. Greg and the other boat had to put their hands out and push us away from crashing. He eventually got it in reverse and we headed out. Sadly, we had no power. Greg put the throttle on full blast and we were barely moving so we pulled over for him to look a the motor. He didn’t have the tools to fully look at it so we decided to just troll around – meaning going 1.5 miles an hour while he fished. It wasn’t ideal but at least I was there and on the water.
We were too scared to go to far away from the dock in case the motor completely quit so we didn’t really get to see the whole lake.
What we did see however, was beautiful. It lived up to they hype. The water is so clear and turquoise. In some angles it felt like I was somewhere tropical with that beautiful water.
We ate some snacks on the boat while we trolled around. After a few hours we decided we better head home since we had a 3 hour drive back. We decided to stop in Stanley and have lunch. It was really good.
